End of January – goal update

So school starts next week.. Which means the January is nearly over. With the Little Miss and Mr Happy on holidays (Well Mr Happy had a week off) we have been busy doing little things here and there. We have been out to dinner and lunch a few times, a trip to the beach. And what’s school holidays without going to see a movie. The movie of choice this holidays was Penguins of Madagascar.

I have been trying to keep doing my crafting goals and not doing too bad if I do say so myself. You can check out my list of goals HERE if that’s your thing.

My drop spindle has been getting a work out this month (easier to get to with the Little Miss being home and lounge room floor space is at a premium). Although it doesn’t spin up as fast as my wheel my spinning is becoming more consistent on it and I can now spin properly instead of having to ‘Park and Draft” to spin. See the difference in my original bobbin to what I am spinning now.

Poor Ida (my wheel) has been getting the occasional outing and have nearly finished one bobbin of the fibre I got last year. Hopefully she can be free soon to work again 😉

One of my current WIPs is another pair of the Hermoine Everyday Socks but this time in Self striping yarn (Regia, Design line) So this will cover my goal to make socks in a color that I like. I didnt like the way the colors pooled in the first pair I made. I am also considering trying the OMG Heel by Megan Williams. If I don’t chicken out first 🙂

Early last year when I was learning to knit I brought myself enough yarn to make The Little Miss a Cardigan from a Patons pattern book. Well I finally got the book and yarn out and I have started making it for her. So far I have completed the back and the left front part. I have learnt some new tricks already with this pattern including how to make 1 purlwise. I will also learn how to knit a button band.

I am not far enough through either project to cross them off my list but am well on my way.

One more thing to show you because I got it the other day and I think its gorgeous. Some spinning fibre from Cat and Sparrow. The colors are so bright and vibrant. I can’t wait to spin it.
