Ah here we are nearly 2 weeks into the new year. School is still out for the summer so the Little Miss is still at home. I am not a person who likes hot weather so I can’t say all these hot days have made me happy. Like they say “You can always warm up when its cold but it’s harder to cool down when its hot”.
The Little Miss and I managed to get away for a few days to visit my dad. We caught up with some friends which is always fun. One thing I found out was that Gippsland seriously sucks in terms of yarn stores. I went to one store and while it had a bit in it. It was not really the yarn I wanted. But the kicker was I can’t believe how rude the owner was. I guess being the only store in town and the next nearest store 30 minutes away has its advantages. :-\
Other than our trip away we have been pretty much living the hermit lifestyle.
In saying that there isnt really much to report for any crafting progress.
I did start a cardigan for The Little Miss. I am seriously questioning my sanity on that one. It’s just a short sleeve vest with Pockets by Patons. Yet to see if it will get done 😉 I am using the recommended yarn from the pattern book.
I did a few blocks for a Log Cabin blanket… but now I am not sure I actually like the ones that I have done (ah the joys of being a procrastinator). I basically just started it to use up my scrap acrylic, hence the no rhyme or reason to the squares.
I have continued to spin my yarn on the wheel and also have picked up my drop spindle again.
Looking back at the yarn that I had spun. I didn’t want to be the person who spun the wool but never used it. Now the Little Miss wanted me to make her a scarf but there wasn’t a lot there so I decided on the First Timers HS Mini Cowl by Kathy Owens. I am not a big fan of the end result (mainly the colors) but she loves it and that’s all that matters. I am not sure what the hand-spun is made up on as the tag didn’t have any details on it.
